and then it fell silent

Yesterday, at noon, the intense academic storm that had been brewing for the last 3 weeks came to and end. I have been working my tail off filling out vet school applications, collecting Desmognathus ocoee in the North Caroline mountains, writing applications essays, doing test after test after test after test...(no joke, 5 last week), calling old colleges to get transcripts expedited to vet schools...just...lots and lots of work. Yesterday morning I took the GRE Biology subject test and promptly came home and fell into a coma asleep. I can officially say now that I am a vet school applicant! And now I'll play that dirty little waiting game until March-April.

I can't really say that anything interesting has happened recently. I worked so hard sampling in NC that I didn't really have time to take photos. There were 92 traps that I check and, while the area was gorgeous, I just couldn't rip myself away from my work to take pictures. I'm going up again for some leisurely sampling soon, and I will document the montane beauty then.

Oh free time, you're here again at last, and just in time for autumn! I dropped my little camera in a stream while in NC, but I'm hoping it's still functioning well enough to come with me on some local woodland trips during my most favourite time of the year! And on that note, I'm going to head into the trees for some much-needed time to commune with nature.
